Hello, Is it possible to change status from h2b visa?

My boyfriend and I are planning to get married in USA (he is American, I am Italian). I recently got a job offer on h2b visa. Can I work on h2b visa while I start the process to get the green card, work permit etc.? Or I need the H2b to expire in order to start to file the paper?

If a foreign national enters the US with a valid visa, and she marries a US citizen, and is sponsored for a green card by that US citizen spouse, then it does not matter if she falls out of status.
