More details to this question:
I'm a co-owner of a small start up business and we recently got a young man on F-1 OPT visa on board as an unpaid intern. There's nothing wrong with his legal status or employment authorization as far as I know. He has a Master of Public Health and is going to help our company try to get into the healthcare management education market in China, which is his home country. I would like to ask if there's anything (paperwork, etc.) that my company is supposed to do.

Your employee or you should speak to his DSO to see what information, if any, is needed to maintain his status.
