Asked on Jan 06th, 2017 on Immigration - Illinois
More details to this question:
According to the law, my older brother and i automatically derived citizenship from both of our parents who naturalized in 1999. We are both permanent residents and have been since 1994, the only problem is that we never applied for a certificate of citizenship and are both over the age 18 now, however if according to the child citizenship act of 2001 we automatically became citizens, what can we do now that we are over 18 years of age?

You each need to request a certificate of citizenship with USCIS. You will need to establish that you met the criteria to acquire citizenship through your parents before you reached the age of 18.  You can read more about acquiring citizenship at http://myattorneyusa.com/deriving-citizenship-through-parents-after-birth.
