No, you can't, even if you have been here for 10 years so long as you are an F-1 visa holder.

There are restrictions on employment while in F-1 status, but it is possible. You should inquire with your school's foreign student advisor/coordinator.

The answer to this one is that you absolutely, positively DO NOT work without obtaining permission to do so through your school. Students are here to study, not to work. And while I understand that a part time job for some extra spending cash may be what you are looking to obtain, you do not want to screw up your student status by accepting employment for which you are not authorized to accept. There are mechanisms through which you can obtain permission to work on campus (and perhaps off campus) but you must do this through the school. I would make an appointment to see you International Student Advisor and see if any help can be provided. Hope this helps and good luck.

If there is a change in your country's situation or you can show economic hardship, you can obtain a limited permission to work, 20 hours a week.

You can apply for work on-campus only or so long as the work is integral to your studies. Otherwise you'll need to apply for a separate work permit.

F-1 students are allowed to work part-time after at least 9 months on campus (maximum 20 hours per week) on the basis of CPT (curricular practical training). OPT (optional practical training) is available upon graduation for a limited period. Contact your Designated School Official (DSO) at your school for specific requirements relating to same. There are also certain "hardship" considerations for students from certain countries which the DSO can explore further with you.
