QUESTION

How do I file concurrent I-130 and I-485?

Asked on Dec 03rd, 2014 on Immigration - Illinois
More details to this question:
My mother is 78 years old and lives abroad. She is not coming to the US anytime soon, she is taking care of my grandmother who is 99 years old. Is it okay to file both forms concurrently, as well as an AOS, all at the same time, before she comes here? I think that after my grandmother passes, she will come here as a visitor, but I'm not sure it is a good idea to apply for a I-485 while she is here on a visitor's visa. Can I file all these forms, fees, and documents together while she is still abroad? Thank you!

The I-485 is inappropriate to file both before and after where 'your Mom has immigrant intent for the purpose of the visit.' I strongly recommend an appointment with a competent and experienced immigration and visa attorney to discuss the matter in detail before the situation gets more complicated.
