QUESTION

How do I get my husband legal in the U.S.?

Asked on Aug 26th, 2012 on Immigration - Utah
More details to this question:
I am married to an illegal immigrant. Reading some of the questions you answered about legalizing an illegal immigrant. I had a few questions about him having to go back from his homeland to apply for the "I-601 hardship waiver at the U.S. Consulate." Would I able to go to his homeland with a passport with him? Does he need a pssport to go back home? What is the safest easiest way to get him home safely?

If you can get a visa to visit the country your husband will be going to, you may certainly go with him.  Each country has different rules about who qualifies for a visa, how to apply, and how long the visa is valid.  If your husband does not have a passport from his home country, he will need to apply for one from the nearest consulate for his home country.  Most major cities have consulates for countries with large populations in the US.
