About two years ago, my husband and I filed an affidavit for someone that was working for us. I thought that the affidavit would expire and didn't make any attempt to report any changes. Recently I found out that her family is coming to this country. After reading all the requirements, as sponsor, I got really pre-occupied. We are in the process of bankruptcy. I need help. Thank you.

You cannot get out of it, unfortunately. But it also does not mean that you are supporting them. You are only on the hook, so to speak, for any means tested public benefits they may apply for.
