How do I go about providing additional documents for I-751?
Asked on May 23rd, 2013 on Immigration - California
More details to this question:
My husband owned his home prior to our marriage. Basically he makes the payment and I take care of the utilities. However, on the paperwork I see it does not look like we have joint lease or ownership.
There is a lot more documentation that you can and should provide for the I-751 than the mortgage and utility statements. You need to look at ALL the things you have together and come up with evidence that will show that the marriage is bona fide.
There are lots of ways to show a good faith marriage - joint tax returns, cell phone bills, bank accounts, gym membership, airline tickets for trips, pictures, joint health and car insurance, joint car title, being listed as responsible party on a medical bill, etc.. If USCIS wants more documentation you should work with an attorney on this.
Consult with an Immigration Attorney who can help you prepare the necessary documents, explain why you do not have enough documents to show a real marriage and advise you on chances of a denial. It is critical that you take this seriously and submit the best application package possible.
It does not matter. What is important is that you can show that you live in the same residence as your husband. Submit documents showing shared residence.
