You are not required to hire an attorney but in this case it would likely be best. Given your husband entered the United States without inspection, he will not be able to obtain a green card in the United States. He will need to pursue an immigrant visa through consular processing. He  will be subject to a bar for unlawful presence but may qualify for a provisional unlawful presence waiver.
