I am a natural-born citizen of the United States. If I choose to revoke my consent to be governed by the US Government, how will US Law apply to me after that? If I revoke consent and decide to stroll down my street smoking marijuana, can I tell the police that their laws do not apply to me because I am not a part of their system of government?
My understanding is that as long as you choose to remain in the United States, you must abide by the laws of the country. You are not able to unilaterally revoke your consent to be governed by the US government while you are here. If you break the law, you will undoubtedly be arrested if your act is known to the authorities regardless of whether you inform them that you do not consider yourself subject to US law.Due to the limitations of the Lawyers.com Forums, Alan Lee, Esq.'s (the "Firm") participation in responding to questions posted herein does not constitute legal advice, nor legal representation of the person or entity posting a question.
