QUESTION

How does an EPO-001 affect immigration status of an H1B immigrant

Asked on Oct 10th, 2023 on Immigration - California
More details to this question:
I was falsely accused by my ex girlfriend for grabbing her wrist and got served with an EPO-001. I have all the proof to prove my innocence and dispute the EPO and I’m willing to fight in the court too. I am more concerned about my immigration status. I was never arrested, only detained for 20-25 minutes

An EPO-001 emergency order of protection in California apparently can be issued by a law enforcement officer if he or she believes that protection is immediately warranted. The length of time allowed is seven days given that it is not issued by a judge. Such would not appear to be capable of affecting your immigration status. However, any further altercations with your ex-girlfriend could lead to immigration consequences.
