QUESTION

How long can I push back the immigrant visa interview for my parents ?

Asked on Jul 23rd, 2018 on Immigration - Michigan
More details to this question:
I'm a US citizen from Iran and want to apply to get a green card for my parents. Iran is one of the countries in Travel Ban. I'm expecting their green card case will proceed until they will interview, and go through the waiver process (from travel ban). It's likely that the waiver request will be rejected. I'd like to start the process, but at the same time there is not much hope that they will be granted the waiver and visa at the very last step. How long can I push back the interview stage after the first embassy appointment notice for the interview? Thanks !

You can generally push back an immigrant visa interview indefinitely as long as you notify the consulate or embassy of your parents' continued interest in immigrating to the States at least once a year.
