I filled out a visa petition for my brother but it was denied. I want to appeal it. How long does the appeal process take?

A year or so. If you did not provide sufficient evidence and as a result your petition is denied, you are better of filing a new petition. Consult with an immigration lawyer.

It should take at least 6 months. The reason for the denial is important however. You should discuss it with an attorney.
