In about 6 months, you should receive a letter from USCIS that your petition is approved. After that, in another few months, the National Visa Center will send you letters asking to complete visa forms and to pay the visa fees. If you promptly do what they request, in about 14 months from now, immigrant visas will become available to your wife and child, and their case will be sent to the U.S. Embassy in your country, and your wife will be invited for a consular interview. If you can become a U.S. citizen, it would speed up the process by 6-8 months.

It is currently taking about 2.5-3 years for a spouse of a green card holder to be eligible for a visa.

Since the quota takes about 3 years, the CIS gives such petitions a low priority. Surely, they would normally finish the I-130 adjudication at least a few months, if not a year, before the quota date is reached.

As a green card holder, your petition for your wife and child is adjudicated under F2A category. Currently, the waiting period for such petition is about 2 years. For example, the petitions in your category which have been approved with current priority date is Jun 2011. If you filed your petition in Mar 2012, it is likely it to become current within the first few months of next year 2014.

The form I 130 is usually granted within several months. You should call the USCIS and / or make an infopass appointment.
