My husband and I hired an attorney. We have sent out all the paper work that the attorney asked us to give him. It has been already a month a half and yet we have received nothing. I tried contacting various times and had finally answered my call 2 weeks ago. He said I should receive my receipt notices for i-130, I-485, and I-765. I been searching various websites and seen a lot of people received them from few days to 2 weeks after sending all their paper work. My husband's visa expired on August 22 and I am scared I might not have the receipts on time before it expires. If the receipt does not come before the 22, does he have to leave out of the country? Or what can I do in this case?
You husband does not have to leave the country; he will be "legal" because , if you are a US citizen, he is applying for adjustment of status. Recently, USCIS would issue receipts a month after the actual submission. Be patient.
