How long will it take to get the green card?

More details to this question:
I am married for 4 yrs now & have a daughter who is 3 yrs old.I lived in USA for 1 and half yrs & returned back to my country due to constant abuse by my husband.My daughter is born in USA but right now staying with me in my country.My husband has totally abandoned us both and now he wants to divorce me and has filed for divorce petition in my country.(We both are from same country) . I wish to go back to USA & raise my daughter there as she is a US citizen.My husband has obtained his green card.If he agrees on helping me to get my green card how long will it take to obtain it? (We are not divorced yet)

If your husband files a petition to sponsor you for a green card, it will take 3-4 years for a visa to be available for you.  You can check the availability of immigrant visas by reviewing the Visa Bulletin issued by the Department of State each month.  Here is a link to the Visa Bulletin: http://travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_1360.html Although you are still legally married, you will also have to convince the consular officer during your interview that your marriage is still viable.
