How will an illegal immigrant go about going back to there home country?

More details to this question:
So if an illegal immigrant from Mexico that is living in the USA wants to go back to Mexico how would they go about doing that ?would they get in trouble at the border even if there trying to go back?

The individual would simply leave the country. He/she could face some issues at the border but at most he/she would be processed and released.
