I got my green card in Dec. 2010, when can I apply for citizenship or how long is it going to take for citizenship? I never went outside of the country in this period of time. My son applied for me he is a US citizen.
You are not eligible for citizenship until 5 years from the date you became a resident. Of course, consult with an attorney to make sure you have no other eligibility bars. Until you are eligible, make sure you don't take trips outside the US lasting for more than 6 months and you are here at least 6 months out of the year. The processing times right now in the LA area are about 6-8 months for the entire process.
You should be able to apply after five years as a lawful permanent resident, and there is a 90 day window prior to the five years during which you may file.
3 months before the 5th anniversary of the date on your "green card" you can apply for US citizenship. If the application is completed properly and there are no issues, it could be scheduled for interview close to the anniversary date.
All Immigration questions are very fact intensive, and no easy answer can be given to your question without meeting with you in person and delving into your life history and what you might be eligible to apply for from USCIS.
