I am awaiting an interview appointment. I understand that visa issuance may be suspended starting in early 2026, and I would like guidance on how to apply for a humanitarian exception. My wife is a U.S. citizen and the sole provider for our family, which includes our six-month-old son, a U.S. citizen, and her older son from a previous marriage, who is also a U.S. citizen. My wife works in retail and is experiencing severe financial hardship. She is unable to fully support our children because she owes her sister $3,000. I can provide the following supporting documents: my wife's medical report, our infant son's birth certificate, money orders from me to my wife, details of her employment contract and salary, a statement of debt from her sister, and my employment contract. While my wife and our older son were in Yemen, they witnessed intense airstrikes and armed conflict near their home. This caused her severe distress, fear, and trauma. She is now psychologically unable to return to Ye
I am not aware of any formal process for Yemenis to overcome the current Trump administration ban on entry to nationals of the country. That being said, any exception would have to satisfy the criteria of urgent humanitarian need, no national interest concerns, and that the waiver would be in the public interest. Probably the best strategy for interview would be to gather up all documentation of the extreme hardship to your wife along with her sworn statement, produce anything that you may have that can show that you are not a security risk, and show any reasons for which it would be in the national interest to admit you to the country. You appear to be outside of Yemen from your facts, and any documentation showing that it is unsafe for you to be in that third country might also be helpful. The chances are likely not good, but best of luck.
