I'm a F1 student. I planned to graduate Dec. 2018. So I applied for OPT at that time. My OPT got approved but I failed to graduate. Now I have to studying on campus and, in the mean time, work off campus. Our international office told me that if I don't work and follow the OPT regulation, my F1 will suspended and I have to go back to my country, cannot finish my degree. So I'm wondering there is any method to pause my OPT without influencing my study?
Unfortunately U.S.C.I.S. does not allow the cancellation of a student's current OPT unless it is notified of the wish to cancel prior to the OPT going into effect. From your question, it appears that the OPT has already gone into effect. If you do not work according to the OPT grant, you will be considered out of status if the time without work is more than 90 days.
