More details to this question:
I worked in the Security Industry for nearly 18yrs as anti drugs unit ( Drug detection ) I have a letter from the Irish police force to state that a threat exists against my life as my name photo and address was given to certain drug dealers and paramilitary organisations, I was told on many occasions that there is a bullet with my name on it if I''m ever caught back in Ireland... I applied for Immigration last year and was not successful for lack of evidence, but I do not want to return to Ireland.. Can I apply for asylum even though its been nearly 2yrs that I am here. I did not know I had to apply for it within the first year and I do not want to be deported, I just want to stay and work as a normal person.
Hello,
If you want to apply for asylum outside of the one year time frame and you have missed the deadline, you will need to take all the relevant paperwork such as documents that prove your case and consult with an experienced immigration attorney in your local area before you proceed. After a thorough case review, your attorney should be able to advise you whether you have a chance of a successful outcome. If you simply file your asylum case outside of the one year deadline, there is a very strong possibility that you may be put into removal proceedings which may lead to your deportation from the U.S.
