Im married to a US citizens she has low income+son Her son presents will effect? Can I file fr green card with co sponsor he is my friend a US citizen

Hi I am from India I came in US as a J1 then decided to do further studies and converted into M1 during that time I met a girl she was a single mother we felt in love and got married three months back then we decided to travel India to see my parents and to complete the Indian marriage custom But unfortunately due to COVID-19 we canceled our plan. We still tried but we found no flight and unsaved to traveled So we stayed back to US.Last week my M1 status expired so we decided to file a petition for my green card but the problem is my wife last two year income is very low but I have a neighbor who is my friend willing to help me as my cosponsor he is a US citizen so my question to you Is my friend can be my sponsor and my wife’s son presents will affect in my processing ??
