QUESTION

Immigration options from Russia to USA

Asked on Apr 08th, 2013 on Immigration - New York
More details to this question:
I have a friend who lives in St. Petersburg, Russia, he is a businessman, has 3 children, and is looking into various immigration options. He asked me to find out for him what are the various alternatives to establish permanent residence in the USA with the ability to work and eventually be able to become a citizen. He is also considering sending his children to an American school, as an option. Please advise.

Dear Philip,   Your friend might have several options: maybe an investor's visa, maybe employment. It all depends on his budget and qualifications.

There are many different types of visas that would allow someone to come to the US and work here legally.  A useful answer to your friend's question would require a comprehensive discussion of his work history and qualifications, his financial resources, and his family history (in case he has any family ties in the US) as well as his plans for the future (for example, how long would he want to stay in the US and how soon does he want to come here?)   A forum like this is not the best way to get this type of advice.
