On May 2013 I was approved for DACA. I received my employment authorizations and a social security number. I have made multiple trips to the texas dps to get a liscencse to drive. Unfortunately, I have unable to do so because my "immigration is still pending". I received a letter a couple of days ago stating that DHS will contact USCIS to verify my status. It mentioned the green card and from i-555. Should I be worried? Should I get a lawyer?
Your employment authorization card was issued because you were granted Deferred Action, so you probably have little to worry about. Because DACA is somewhat of a novelty, it is possible that the Texas DMV has not yet caught onto it. Each state makes its own rules with regards to drivers license issuance, and while it is difficult to know what they will do in Texas regarding the license, you can relax with regards to your immigraiton status. You were fingerprinted for DACA and if it was approved you are probably not considered a high priority case. While DACA is a good way to be stable and be able to move about freely without fear of imminent deportation, keep in mind it is not a permanent fix, and you should look for a means to obtain permanent residence.
