Is the citizens certificate important?

More details to this question:
I think I am a USA citizen because when my dad became a citizen I was underage! I don't know if I can just get a passport or do I really have to get the certificate ?

Here is a link where you can find out if you are already a citizen because of your father becoming a citizen when you were a child. If you are already a citizen, you may simply apply for a passport--you don't need to get the citizenship certificate.
