More details to this question:
I came to the USA with a tourist visa and changed to student status. Later I got married to a green card holder. But my spouse just disappeared. I don’t know where he is know. I only have a marriage certificate. He worked for cash, so I don’t know where he filed for income taxes or not. Can I still get my green card if we don’t live together any more. He will not attend the interview with me.

It depends. You may be able to qualify under the violence against women act and thereby self petition without his involvement. Spousal abandonment may constitute a form of abuse that may constitute grounds to self petition under the VAWA act. However I would not represent yourself in this type of case. You should get counsel to represent you from start to finish.
