More details to this question:
Hi! I am currently in Italy (I am Italian citizen) and two months ago I applied for an L1 visa. I have my appointment at the consulate in Italy for the interview. In June 2021 my American boyfriend (US Citizen) came to visit me to Italy (as tourist) and proposed. We want to get married in Italy and of July. If I get marry before my L1 visa appointment, will I have troubles with my L1 visa approval at the day of the interview? Will the marriage cancel the validity of my visa application? When I did the L1 application, I said I was single because I wasn’t expecting a marriage to happen before the day of my L1 interview.
Oh OK so at your interview for the L visa, it is imperative that you disclose all the facts and be completely truthful about your situation. The L visa is a non-immigrant visa and therefore is temporary in nature. So if during the interview, the officer realizes that you are married to a US citizen, then that would cast a lot of doubt on your intention to immigrate only temporarily using the L visa. And therefore that would be considered to be problematic because you are expressing a conflicting intent. On the one hand, you intend to only temporarily reside in the United States, but by getting married to a US citizen, you put that intent to temporarily reside in doubt.
