QUESTION

May I return to the U.S. after having been removed?

Asked on Jan 08th, 2020 on Immigration - Tennessee
More details to this question:
Hi .. my family and I were granted asylum in the U.S. back in 1997. I personally grew up/lived in the U.S. for an aggregate period of over 12 years. In 2006, I travelled to my country of origin to visit my family, and due to particular circumstances, I could not return to the U.S. until 2009. Upon arriving, while my Permanent Resident Card was still valid, I was placed in and later ordered removed from the U.S.

Assuming that there are no other bars to your admission than removal from the US, you can apply for a nonimmigrant or immigrant visa if you are eligible for such to return to the US. If there are other bars such as membership in barred associations, fraud or crime, you should consult with an immigration attorney to go over your situation and your options. Many immigration attorneys take telephonic consultations.
