A United States citizen can sponsor a foreign national who entered the United States with a valid visa, after marriage and can adjust status to a green card for that foreign spouse, despite the fact that she has overstayed her visa. Keep in mind if you go through the process, she should not leave the United States under any condition until she has obtained her green card.
