Your wife can file for you even if your mother's petition is been approved. We have had cases in the past in which individuals have been applied for or applied for permanent residence through multiple paths.

You are allowed to have multiple petitions by different relatives. I don't know how old you are, but assuming you are over 21, your mother's petition is going to take a lot longer than your wife's. I would recommend looking into the petition through your wife nd there are several other issues which need considering, including the possibility that your mother's petition grants you Sec. 245(i) benefits allowing you to adjust status in the US, which can be done through your wife.
