QUESTION

not filing taxes

Asked on Apr 05th, 2016 on Immigration - Indiana
More details to this question:
I am applying for naturalization under 3 yrs rule. me and my husband didn't file tax for one of the 3 yrs because we both were full time students and had no income. Is it better to do late filing before sending my n-400 package? or just provide a written explanation for why we didn't file for that year? can I be denied citizenship because of that?

You should not be denied solely because you did not file joint taxes. You should provide an explanation along with other evidence to show you have been living in a marital union. This would be things like your joint bank statements, lease agreements, or joint bills.
