My boyfriend is from Canada, went to college for 4 years in New York, has filed for an OPT Visa at the beginning of May 2014 and forgot to include his photos in the original package. He has recently sent his pictures and gotten notification that they were received. They are now saying he has to wait another 90 days for an answer and then, if accepted, wait another 30 days for the physical visa. He has a job in the states, which he has not been able to start, and may lose said job if he has to wait all of this extra time. What can be done, if anything to speed this up? (besides asking for it to be expidited) Can anyone be contacted? He has waited 4 months already and another 90+ days is just ridiculous.
I seriously doubt that your boyfriend will have to wait another 90 days after submitting his photos and another 30 days for the work permit since he already filed for the OPT in May 2014. The waiting time should be much shorter as there does not seem to be much of an issue from your question as to whether he is entitled to the OPT. He can continue to communicate with U.S.C.I.S. through its National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.Due to the limitations of the Lawyers.com Forums, Alan Lee, Esq.'s (the "Firm") participation in responding to questions posted herein does not constitute legal advice, nor legal representation of the person or entity posting a question.
