QUESTION

Regarding SEVIS transfer

Asked on Aug 27th, 2024 on Immigration - California
More details to this question:
I pursued MS program and was on STEM OPT. My SEVIS expired June 30th. Have been staying in the 60 days grace period timeframe. I got admission in another college for MBA for Fall 2(starting Oct 28th). They had a program starting in Fall 1(starting Sept 3rd) but I didn't pursue that. I did my SEVIS transfer on August 28th. Do you think I should request the college to enroll in Fall 1, rather than Fall 2 ? Would my profile look bad since I would not be working/studying before college starts, i.e. on Oct 28th ?

Generally speaking, individuals who have expired their programs are allowed up to five months to transfer into another F-1 student program. As the starting date for your program is within the five month limit, I do not believe that you should be worried about what your profile looks like.
