U visa home robery

More details to this question:
I was was victim of a crime robery with in the man got in to my house assaulted me with a gun a bit me where they gave me a black eye and busted my lip I call the police and there was a report but i dont think they have found the criminal I was wondering can i get the u visa even if they haven't found the criminals?

If you have and are cooperating with the police department and you can establish that, then you may pursue a U visa. This is your golden opportunity to obtain lawful permanent residence possibly. You should discuss your case in private with counsel. Counsel in any state can represent you.

Possibly.  You must do more than file a report.  Have you been cooperating with the police in finding your assailant? Are the police willing to provide the affidavit that you did cooperate? How long ago did this happen? And what is your cuurent status? U visa is pretty liberal, but you need support from the police in your claim.
