voting in Florida as a permanent resident

More details to this question:
my wife registered to vote in Florida we read where she could vote in local elections as a permanent resident we later found out that this was not true for Florida she never voted and we went to the local elections office and and took her name off as a registered voter. we were told by a local lawyer that she might be deported for this action and we are really worried about it. we really don't know what to do now

It is unlikely that merely registering to vote (while not claiming to be a US citizen) that the USCIS would even know about the registration issue, let alone want to take action to remove the person. This will be an issue when she applies for citizenship however.
