What are our options if her alias was mentioned in her visa application?

Recently, my mother has applied for a visit visa from India. Visa officer has given her 221(g) white slip after completing the interview. He needs a clarification letter from me. My mother has 1 legal name and an alias. All legal documents (voter card, passport and other government issued proofs) are under her legal name, but visa office raised question about her alias name. We did not mention any alias name in her visa application and any other government related documents but somehow he pulled some regards under her alias name.
