What can be done if one applied through I-130 but there is no approval letter yet?

More details to this question:
We apply I-130 last year April 2nd they receive the application. My wife is a US citizen. She did the application. Our application is handling in Nebraska service center. We called today them saying they are processing May 16, 2013 but our application receive on April 2nd 2013. I am a Canadian resident. I am in Canada now. What we could do at this point?

If you happen to be in the USA, you can file for adjustment and get a work and travel permit and be on your way, quickly, to a green card.
