QUESTION

What can I do if I’m filing for residency?

Asked on Dec 07th, 2013 on Immigration - Washington
More details to this question:
I am 28 years old and have been in the U.S. since I was 7 months old. I am planning on fixing my papers through my mother who will become a permanent resident soon. The thing is I was told that I would have to leave the country for a year and I don't want to. Honduras is a terrible place and I have a daughter who is 5 and in the IEP (Speech problems) program who needs me greatly. What can I do? I am here with a TPS, I do have a clean record and never left the country and came in illegally. I am a total patriot to this Country and want to be able to vote someday.

There seems to be some information missing from your question, such as who told you you will need to leave. It may be that DACA is an option for you prior to adjustment based upon the petition filed by your mother, or something such as cancellation of removal may be considered for you. Without greater detail it is difficult to give a firm answer beyond that you likely do have some options to explore.
