QUESTION

What can I do to get a refund?

Asked on Aug 23rd, 2016 on Immigration - Texas
More details to this question:
I submitted my DACA renewal application along with $465 application and biometrics fee. The US postal service lost my express mailed package to the USCIS location. I resubmitted as they had no idea where it could be. USCISreceived the second package all was well. Then turns out the US postal service found the package because of the case I requested (because I had to come out of pocket another $465 to send the sexism application) Which by the way is a set back for someone who survives paycheck to paycheck. I called USCIS as soon as I got receipt of the second application being reactive D so I could explain the situation (I also put it in a letter in the second package that was sent) The first time they told me I just had to write a letter explaining the situation and request the refund. The second time I called to confirm they told me there's no way I can get a refund. I NEED that refund an extra $465 is a big dent in my paying for my housing and bills. Do I need to take legal action?

I sympathize with your situation. It may cost you more to pursue legal action against USCIS to recover the fee. Have you tried contacting your local congressional representative? Maybe his/her office can assist you.
