WHAT EFFECT WILL MARRYING SOMEONE WITH A GREEN CARD HAVE IF I JUST GOT A DIVORCE?

More details to this question:
I just got a divorce and I am currently on vacation in the US. My 2 year boyfriend is a green card holder. He has asked me to marry him and he is really excited about it. Can i get married and get to stay with him up there. What implications will this have? I have a 10 year visa I just got a few months ago before my divorce. Do we wait before we get married or do we go ahead. I can always go back to my country because my intention was never to stay in the US. I need an answer before i make up my mind as to what to do. Thanks.
You could get married but you could not stay in the United States because marriage to a lawful permanent resident requires application for a visa that is numerically limited, and thus there is a wait involved in obtaining an immigrant visa based on such marriage. Right now that wait is just over two years.
