What is my monitary responsiblity by sponsoring an immigrant?

You are only responsible to cover what the state might pay out in benefits if the person becomes a public charge.  Since immigrants rarely go on the welfare rolls, it is unusual for a sponsor to have to pay anything.  It is more like an insurance policy and you are the underwriter.
