What is the best timeline for H4 EAD with minimal gaps in employment?
Asked on Jul 15th, 2020 on Immigration - New Jersey
More details to this question:
I am currently on F1 OPT expiring in Feb 2021. Our I-140 is approved and my husband's H1B has been extended until Oct 2023. I am planning to apply for H4 & EAD concurrently in August 2020 considering 6 months of processing times. Due to the wide disparities in the processing times at different USCIS centers, I am confused whether my timelines are accurate in order to minimize my unemployment gap between COS to H4 and receiving EAD? Any help or guidance will be much appreciated. Thank you so much!
It is probably best at this time to put in the H-4 application with EAD as soon as possible. H-4 employment authorization is not favored by the Trump administration and putting in the application now as opposed to later may give you a better chance of actually receiving it.
