What you do after filing the I-130 petition depends on many things including whether you are a US citizen or green card holder]; your relationship to the person(s) for whom you filed the petition and the alien's country of birth. In any event, after a petition is filed, you'd wait for it to be approved by CIS. After the approval, you need to then find out if and when visas in that current becomes current. You'd need to check the visa bulletin web site monthly to know when the visa is current. The visa petition process often involves significant wait times .I believe you should consult an attorney to ensure you are doing this properly to ensure your wait is not for nothing.

Once approved, USCIS should send the file to the NVC and they will notify you of the fees required for consular processing of an immigrant visa when the visa is available.

Depending upon the Family-based Classification in which the Petitioner and the Beneficiary of the I-130 applied, the next step is to either (1) apply for an adjustment of status to lawful permanent residence in the U.S.; or (2) Consular Process for the green card at a U.S. Consulate Office abroad. Please note that these processes can only be undertaken if and when the VISA BULLETIN reports the priority date for the I-130 as being current. Please note that immediate relative cases are current. The process for his green card is complex but a competent immigration lawyer or attorney should be able to assist you/him with the process.
