Will B1/B2 extension negatively affect my asylum application?

More details to this question:
I have requested an extension before my first 6 months expired. Now I am in the 7th month and want to apply for Asylum because of fear of persecution in my home country.

The request to extend your authorized stay in B1/B2 status should not affect your asylum application as long as the asylum application is submitted within one year of your entry into the United States.
