will committing a public assistance programs fraud effect an asylum seeker case?

More details to this question:
A mother of two US citizen kids who received benefits from W.I.C., SNAP and Medicaid as she was granted these benefits as she concealed her actual income and not reporting her husband income or what he send her from overseas. She received more than $20,000 in benefits. She has been investigated for Welfare Fraud but not been charged or convicted yet. She is waiting for her asylum case to be scheduled in Texas. will the investigation or found guilty effect her asylum case and how can they be linked? her asylum case is based on "fear to return" which also was her way to be allowed to enter to US after been detained at the airport and was about to be deported then.

It would not adversely affect her asylum case.  Of course, if she is charged, she may face jail time for the fraud conviction.
