will I be deported even though I have an american son undergoing treatment?

More details to this question:
I have overstayed my visa and was recently arrested. I am worried I may be deported and forced to leave my son who needs medical attention

You need to consult with an Immigration attorney to see if you can qualify for any defenses against deportation: cancelation of removal, for example...

It is difficult to answer that question without more information.  In principle, you do not have legal status in the US and are subject to deportation to your home country.  It may, under certain circumstances, be possible to get relief from deportation, but that would depend upon the facts of your case.  How long have you been in the US, how old is your son, is he a US citizen etc.  These are all relevant factors that a competent immgration attorney would need to know.  Best of luck
