QUESTION

Will immigration officer ask me about optional practical training?

Asked on Nov 18th, 2013 on Immigration - Washington
More details to this question:
I'm on a student visa, married to my us citizen husband. I had an optional practical training a year ago. After it expired, I maintained my status by going back to school. Now I am applying for a green card through marriage. Do you think immigration officer will ask me about optional practical training?

It should not make any difference as to your current application.

No. You came to the US legally and maintained your status. Even if something went wrong with your OPT or you failed to maintain your status at some point, this should have no bearing on your marriage-based adjustment of status.

The focus will primarily be on the validity of your marriage, and not prior OPT time. If there is a reason for concern related to any possible past immigration violations you may want to consult with an attorney however.
