Hi sister's petition will not be affected if you get married. I did not understand why you cannot file for him ?? If you get married and you become a USC, he will be your immediate relative and he immediately qualifies for either adjustment or consular processing. I suggest that you hire an experienced immigration attorney. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Yes, if your boyfriend's petition is based on his status of being "single" it will change his preference category to "married" which is a slower processing category.

The marriage would not affect his sister's petition provided she filed directly for him and not for his parent? Why can't you petition for him as this would be much faster?

No, a marriage will not affect his sister petition. In fact, you can still file a visa petition on his behalf as his wife once you became a U.S. citizen which will get him his green card within 3 to 4 months if the Immigration Service approves it. This will presumably save him at least 4 more years of waiting.
