I was arrested and went to jail. After I got out, since I had a clean record, the judge let me get it deferred and said it would never affect me. But now that it's time to renew my DACA for the third time. I'm nervous. Will it affect me? I haven't gotten into any other sort of trouble beside the speeding tickets and no license but only had 3 my whole life. Should I get an immigration attorney to apply for me or can I normally do it the way I've done it through a notary?
The choice is yours, but the last arrest, and perhaps conviction, may complicate matters. You can lose quite a bit of money if you are denied. You may not get another chance to apply, again, if DACA is denied. This means that you may want to start using an attorney as a result. This 'may' be considered a significant misdemeanor depending upon the examiner's discretion. Good luck.
