Will there be any problem for them to travel to the US before October 2017 while my extension is in process?

More details to this question:
My H1B visa will expire on October 2017 (stamped in passport) and my employer is processing for the extension. My wife and kid also has H4 visa (even stamped in passport) till October 2017 when they were with me in USA but they are currently now in India. Their H4 extension is not yet initiated.

It's better to come after your h1 extension is approved so they can stay based on the new date; otherwise they will be allowed to stay till October of 2017 and after your h1 extension is approved they will have to either leave by their I-94 date or they will have to file I-539 to extend their stay.
